ROAD SAFETY
An estimated 1,35 million people are killed each year on the roads worldwide and 50 million injured. That corresponds to 3,500 fatalities every day, including 500 children: an unacceptable human, economic and social cost for our societies.
The FIA is dedicated to improving the safety of every day road users throughout the world.
It does so through:
• Promoting safe, accessible and sustainable mobility for all;
• Delivering global advocacy programmes, and fostering regional strategic cooperation and local actions;
• Promoting knowledge and best practice sharing;
• Representing its Member Organisations at the international level.
FIA Road Safety Grants Programme
Available to FIA Members only, the FIA Road Safety Grants Programme, established in 2012 with an endowment from the FIA Foundation. It funds Club projects for promotion and progress in road safety around the world.
Funded projects include awareness-raising campaigns, educational and training programme, the protection of vulnerable road users and road infrastructure safety information.
The FIA Road Safety Grants Programme is organised around four streams:
Global Action – A yearly advocacy campaign;
Transformation – Governing scalable road safety interventions;
Capacity Building – Focused at targeted global projects;
Collaboration – Aimed at facilitating projects at regional level.
