In a recent video interview with FIA Region III President Frank Fotia sheds light on the challenges Clubs are facing to promote safe, sustainable and accessible mobility for all in the region. He also comes back on the re-opening of international travel in the post-COVID period, on Clubs’ business diversification projects, on the collaboration between the FIA and Region III, and finally on the work of the FIA Humanitarian Task Force to support Ukraine.

Facing Covid-19 was a challenge for most Clubs worldwide, Region III saw unique challenges, especially in the Caribbean, where the loss of revenue of tourism greatly affected Clubs. With the global pandemic behind us, he suggests all Clubs create new business models and new partnerships.

He also explains the excitement Clubs have for the re-opening of international travel, even though, some countries and airports are no prepared for the increased demand. The Region sees it as a great opportunity because Canadians in particular travel extensively to the Caribbean. He emphasizes that it’s a great time for them to leverage local relationships with local tourism providers to offer products that are differentiated and that offer value to Members, while generating revenue for the Club.

Pushing and developing strong relationships between Northern and Southern Clubs from the Region is one of the main objectives for Region III, Frank stated.

Regarding the post-covid situation, Region III Clubs have found great response from their Members and local authorities on driver education. These programs have helped save lives and gain brand attention for Clubs.

The spirit of collaboration and cooperation all across the FIA Family is notoriously positive, specifically country to country and Region to Region. Frank sees big achievements ahead of us.
